JOHN J SMITH PHOTOGRAPHS
This shows a Much Wenlock to Wellington passenger train at what was known as the High Level platform.
Dating back to the opening of the station, only one platform was ever provided for Much Wenlock branch trains.
As there was a requirement to cross Wenlock branch trains with those on the SVR line, Wenlock branch trains had a
somewhat unconventional crossing movement where one train was brought to a stand at the Wenlock platform,
and the second train would then pass by on the 'Back Road' (to the left of the train in the photo) then reverse onto
the platform line, behind the first train.
